DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

Description:
Performs complex accounting work in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, state and federal regulations and University policy. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in carrying out the work. Oversees the day to day operations of the grant account managers. Assures that all files related to grants are being maintained, billing to authorities and reporting to researchers continues in a timely and consistent manner, end of grant reporting is done within the required period. Also maintains estimated monthly cash flow projections schedule for all grants in force over their remaining term and monitors budgetary compliance. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable function. Assures that all invoices are substantiated with proper documentation and signed approval(s), and are processed for payment in an efficient manner. Reviews expenditures of requisitioning departments to insure conformity with budgetary limitations as applicable. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the procurement function.

Requirements:
Four-year college degree (B.A., B.S.) preferably in a relevant area of study; at least five years of related job experience; previous supervisory experience; knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); a working knowledge of fund accounting, not-for-profit institutions and/or universities is a plus. Superior command of MS Word and Excel; working knowledge of Great Plains.
