Job Title: Accounting Manager/Business Office
Description:
Provides financial administration, analysis, and support for accounting processes and monthly financial closing. Oversee and assist in all quarterly reviews and annual audits. Prepare/process journal entries that include oversight and monitoring of designated and intramural research funds allocated to various departments. Assist in preparing and providing monthly, quarterly and annual financial information to supporting agencies in accordance with GAAP and other governing agency rules. Acts as a liaison with campus administrative departments and auditors. Assists in problem solving and reconciliations. Provides guidance and training in policy and procedures.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential Job Functions
1. Preparation of quarterly financial statements while assisting in the accounting functions that includes researching designated, restricted, operating funds, etc. by tracking expenses, maintaining records and monitoring available balances using fund accounting, budgets and separate funding
2. Knowledge of new laws and regulations relating to FASB pronouncements and IRS exemption codes and regulations
3. Financial reconciliations and internal auditing
4. Establishing and implementing accounting processes standard for higher education industry while managing the integrity of the University's accounting systems and records
5. Preparation of policies and procedures
6. Monthly closing process
7. View information for proper support and compliance with internal and external practices

Skills:
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Excellent working knowledge of computer being able to format documents in MS word, excel and Access
2. Working knowledge of the Banner Accounting system is a plus
3. Must be able to use a 10 key calculator by touch.
4. Must know accounting and business terms.
Qualifications Standard
Education: Bachelors degree is required with any combination of experience that is in the field of Accounting for Higher Education.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years experience in the Accounting field.
Grade/Salary Exempt -- salary is DOQ
