JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will report to the CFO and will be AeroVironment‘s subject matter expert on government cost accounting regulations (FAR and CAS); will develop and maintain all bidding, performing, and billing rates; and will be the primary liaison with government auditors with respect to rate and cost accounting inquiries.
Primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Ensure all processes and controls are in place to comply with government regulations related to business cost practices.
- Research cost accounting issues to ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Develop and negotiate direct and indirect cost rates applicable to government contracts.
- Maintain documentation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain effective and constructive relationships with government administrative contracting officer, auditors and representatives.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team to provide advice and counsel in areas of government accounting.
- Advise on financial policies and procedures to other functions in the organization responsible for government contracts, proposals and billing as well as with the broader finance organization to ensure a general understanding of government requirements and needs for compliance.
- Must be able to interface with Senior Management on issues of government accounting and compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
- BA in Finance/Accounting required. CPA desired.
- 10+ years of government cost accounting experience in a CAS compliant environment.
- Direct Experience developing and maintaining a Business Unit Disclosure Statement.
- Experience developing and negotiating annual direct and indirect cost claims and forward pricing rates.
- Strong understanding of the current regulatory environment in the areas of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Truth In Negotiations Act (TINA).
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with senior management.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
This position requires you have access to data and technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants cannot be hired until they are qualified to have such access.
