Overview:
The Campus President provides executive leadership and overall direction to the metro including meeting growth and profitability goals through the proper management of the University’s resources. The Campus President is responsible for the operation of a campus or metro with a sustained enrollment or approximately 500-1,000 students.
Responsible for the overall financial performance, condition and viability of the University. Develops and implements short-term and long-term strategic plans which are consistent with the missions, vision and values of DeVry University. Provides management with accurate and timely information about the University on a continuing basis so as to facilitate informed decision making. Provides sound business, managerial and financial guidance to subordinates in the conduct of their duties as well as facilitating effective communication on a daily basis so as to reinforce teamwork and information sharing. Assures effective administration and management of the University through the application of management principles within established guidelines; ensures that operating internal controls are properly applied. Dispenses advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures consistent with established policies. Establishes and maintains an effective organizational structure so as to accomplish the University’s objectives; establishes practices to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession. Develops and implements adequate measures to meet the fiscal needs of the University, to conserve its assets and to maintain an effective system of budgeting control. Ensures compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations; amends existing policies/procedures as needed. Following are the major accountabilities of the Campus President’s position: - Student Recruitment: responsible for the successful operation of the Admissions Office. Student Retention: effective management of the academic programs, support activities and resources. Campus Profitability: effectively manages the gross margin percent and dollar contribution of the annual budget as well as making efficient use of capital. Financial Administration: effective financial management in areas such as financial aid processing, accounts receivable, student loan defaults and bookstore operations. Campus and Systems Projects: ensures successful implementation of corporate and major facility projects; e.g. IT projects, government and public relations goals. Campus Growth: creates, implements, and balances campus initiatives designed to increase new student enrollments. Human Capital Development: recruits, develops, and retains excellent faculty and staff to include setting up development programs and timely performance reviews. Manages successions and develops staff for new campuses. Completes other projects and duties as assigned. Specific Responsibilities Reviews forecasts and proposes capital expenditures; approves departmental budgets and supervises preparation of financial reports for the University. Ensures that the University’s curriculum is relevant to local and national needs, recommends changes to academic management and develops an academic strategy for the University. Ensures that both faculty and academic management are hired with the appropriate credentials, knowledge, skill and experience to meet the needs of the academic program. Supplements and enhances faculty and academic management through a formal training and development program. Ensures quality of instruction through periodic evaluations and audits on how the University is meeting established objectives. Ensures that students are provided full assistance in their pursuit of government financial assistance for their education. Ensures that an appropriate student housing program is in place and operating to meet the needs of the University’s students; monitors the program to ensure a secure and safe environment. Maintains a program to provide students with part-time educational jobs so as to give them work-world experience. Establishes a job placement system which enables the employment process for the University’s graduated students; maintain records and statistics on job placement. Provides programs for non-academic student support services with the objective of maximizing student success. Develops financial plans that are consistent with the University’s goals and objectives; ensures that adequate safeguards and controls are in place to protect the Company’s assets. Responsible for effective manpower planning, proper recruitment and staffing, effective utilization of all manpower, management development, and leading and motivating so as to achieve excellent job performance. Responsible for a comprehensive student enrollment system; provides resources as to accomplish the student enrollment goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution required; Ph.D. degree preferred. Successful record of leadership in higher education and/or business. At least eight to ten years of relevant experience required; Five years of which must be as a Supervisor/Manager. Three to five years of sales or marketing experience strongly preferred. Some experience with post secondary educational institutions including student recruitment, advertising/marketing, customer service and/or community relations preferred. An understanding of the for-profit sector of higher education, to include an understanding of basic data processing system concepts. Effective in various situational leadership roles with a variety of constituencies. Adept at revenue-based flexible budgeting. Ability to generate and analyze research data. Working knowledge of appropriate financial analysis techniques. Knowledgeable in personnel administration with an understanding of wage and salary administration, performance evaluation, succession planning and training.
