The primary purpose of this job position is to:
* Provide direction of the Child Development Programs by overseeing direct service delivery to all referred home-based students
* Assist students in accessing appropriate resources
* Network with community agencies to ensure comprehensive service delivery
* Supervise home-based staff, interns and volunteers involved in the program
Major Duties and Resposibilities:
1. Direct activities of home-based program for infants, ages 0-6 years.
2. Provide direct service for all families on in-take.
3. Participate in in-service training, planning and implementation.
4. Maintain procedures and policies in accordance with those of the agency.
5. Maintain written student and family records.
6. Direct and prioritize referrals from the community.
7. Participate in multi-disciplinary assessment of clients in order to provide appropriate programming.
8. Supervise direct home intervention, including visual stimulation, socialization, communication, gross and fine motor activities, positioning, self-help activities, family support, education and resource planning.
9. Develop and implement regularly scheduled in-service training sessions and family support opportunities with the parents, children, siblings, extended family, etc., in order to :
* provide interaction opportunities between families
* acquire new skills
* provide emotional support to all families
10. Access and utilize the resources of Junior Blind of America (e.g., Nurse, Psychologist, Teachers) in order to provide the most comprehensive program possible.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
* Masters Degree in Special Education or related field, Visual Impairment Credential a plus.
2. Experience:
* At least three (3) years experience working with infants (birth to six years of age) who are disabled.
* Ability to work with parents.
* Knowledge and experience with assessment and programming for visually impaired and multi-disabled infants.
* Knowledge of resources and parent support services available on a local and state level.
