Job Summary


Reporting to the Sr Director of Operations, the Industrial Engineer’s role is to review, plan and leverage the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.


Essential Functions



  • Lead Outsourcing and supply chain projects at assigned ECM’s.

  • Monitor and track supplier performance; coordinate supplier-related functions.

  • Facilitate the strategic and operational development of key suppliers.

  • Introduce new methods and tools to suppliers.

  • Initiate improvement projects in regards to LEAN and Six Sigma.

  • Work with internal groups such as Production, Purchasing and Logistics, Production Engineering and Quality Engineering to resolve supply and manufacturing issues.

  • Support management with all supplier development strategies and initiatives.

  • Perform gap analysis on supplier capabilities and monitor corrective action.

  • Direct interface with suppliers.

  • Identify key supplier performance issues with Procurement and Engineering teams. Analyze, and initiate corrective actions/problem resolution.

  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.

  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.

  • Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.

  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems.

  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and equipment.

  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to manufacture and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization. Regulate and alter workflow schedules according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.

  • Work with engineering to plan, develop, and initiate cost reduction strategies.

  • Conduct make/buy analysis to determine strategic direction for assemblies (in sourcing or outsourcing decisions).

  • Assist in the development of DFEMA’s (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and PFMEA’s (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and control plans where required.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or a related field required.

  • 4+ years relevant work experience.

  • The ability to travel approximately 40% of the time.

  • Broad ranging PC skills, including Microsoft Office suite of software.

  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in additional language(s) is a plus.

  • Technical expertise in engineering/manufacturing processes and statistical process control.

  • Experience in supply management/logistics and/or a quality role a plus.

  • Working knowledge of lean principles (5S, waste reduction, one-piece flow, kanban, Poka Yoke, DFM/DFA etc.), and material concepts (MRP/ERP, material handling/packaging, logistics etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information with teams as well as suppliers and senior management.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Candidates must be flexible, motivated, team players who are able to prioritize tasks, and communicate progress and issues effectively.

  • Knowledge of modern digital communication technologies and standards including CDMA, GPSM, TDMA, MSR, OFDM.


This position will require the passing of a background investigation & individual must be eligible to work in the US.
