JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design controls and methods of safely processing complex lightweight composite aerospace structure fabrication and assembly.
· Develop and document specifications, procedures, processes used to produce the large-scale composite airframe both internal make and at suppliers. (i.e. environmental, material properties, cure cycles, bonding, fastening, material handling).
· Validate documentation and verify process effectiveness through design of experiment (DOE) and/or physical witness.
· Audit documentation and processes for compliance using Production Process Verification (PPV) methods and analysis.
· Generate design improvements to improve specifications, procedures, processes, quality, and flow of the Global Observer product line.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
- A BS Degree and a minimum of 5 years Materials Research and Development Engineering experience working in an aircraft production environment or equivalent.
- 5-10 years hands-on experience with large composite aircraft structures fabrication and test is required; UAV experience is a plus.
- Must have knowledge of composite aerospace structures design and manufacturing.
- Experience in developing and documenting process control instructions for composite structure fabrication and assembly.
- Experienced with typical composite lay-up techniques.
- Experienced in handling and working with composite materials, fiberglass, carbon fiber or Kevlar.
- Experience in using standard machine shop equipment and tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and innovative culture to accomplish large part fabrication.
- Experience with Catia V5 and/or SolidWorks CAD software a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills - Team Player.
- Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
