Overview:


Responsible for up front conceptualization and development of new products and their function.
Assists Manager with providing direction and guidance to engineers and technicians.


Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision works directly from verbal concept and or a written specification. Makes independent decisions with regards to product design and assembly referring more difficult issues to the manager. The individual will be required to direct group members, estimate budgets and time for tasks assigned. Interfaces with all level within the organization with regards to new product design.

1. Provide direction on work assignments for department Engineers and Technicians.
2. Perform layout and design of New Products using CAD (SDRC Ideas, ProE, or equivalent).
3. Development of motorized geartrains and moving devices as required by Engineering Specification or as directed by manager.
4. Research new and existing printing technologies and develops an approach to integrate these new technologies into Zebra.
5. Ensure the generation of robust computer models and manufacturable parts through use of plastics practices and technologies.
6. Research and develop motor and battery technologies and integrate these technologies into Zebra products.
7. Integrate design efforts from mechanical, electrical and software groups as a project evolves.
8. Organize projects within group using SDRC Ideas assembly tools, Microsoft Project or other window?s based software.
9. Generate and review documentation in accordance with Zebra policies and ISO requirements.
10. Review designs to ensure manufacturability.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

- Education BS/MS Mechanical Engineering

- Experience in working with CDM's, ODM's and OEM's is necessary;

- Experience in printer design is a must; media handling and motion control, etc..

- Command of Mandarin language is a plus.
- Experience 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Other requirements Project Management or Group Management experience required.
Must be fluent in CAD and PC software.
Must be knowledgeable in sheet metal design, plastic design and molding practices.
Strong communication skills necessary.
