Job Description: Universal Music Publishing Group is currently seeking a Marketing Manager for the West Los Angeles, CA location.
Overview: This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, and is responsible for a high-volume flow of production projects, design, public relations, marketing, and new media initiatives. This position requires a marketing/design professional with excellent Photoshop, Quark, and Illustrator skills balanced with strong business writing and proofreading skills. The Marketing Manager will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications to utilize both online and traditional marketing and design experience in conceptualizing and developing marketing campaigns for music supervisors and recording artists including email samplers; websites; print ads; direct mail brochures; CD sampler artwork; recording artist one sheets; and artist marketing plans. Candidate will be responsible for a variety of public relations, marketing, new media related functions. Must have excellent written communication skills and the ability to write, edit, and proofread. Candidate must have a calm, professional demeanor, a “can-do” attitude, and a passion for music.
Responsibilities:
MARKETING:
Develop ideas and create marketing campaigns for music supervisors of film, television, ad agencies, and video games
Research new music releases, chart news, artist biographies
Assist in creating/writing/building artist spotlight pages and current news features on company web sites
Assist in writing/researching/design of content for monthly world-wide reports
Assist in artist marketing plan presentations
Maintain new music release calendar
Maintain and update the world-wide company directory
Work with Marketing/PR/New Media interns, delegating and supervising tasks/projects
DESIGN/PRODUCTION:
Responsible for designing and printing of marketing materials to include CD artwork, trade ads, brochures, newsletters, and general marketing collateral in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark
Liaise with printing company on logistics (press checks, film proofs, and delivery)
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
Maintain database of recording artist publicity photos and bios
Research industry news surrounding talent roster
Assist in drafting of artist bios or press releases where needed
Assist in follow-up pitching to reporters where needed
Maintain press clippings archive
Job Requirements: BA or BS Degree in either Communication Arts, Marketing, Advertising, Design, Journalism, or Public Relations
Must be extremely proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3), Quark 7.3, and Adobe Acrobat. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience working in Flash or Premiere Pro a plus.
Exceptional organizational and effective time management skills, must be very detail oriented
Ability to juggle a variety of tasks in a professional manner
Must be a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Music marketing, public relations, new media, or advertising industry experience preferred, but not required
