Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Customer Service Department, this position is responsible for the processing of a high volume of incoming and outgoing phone calls. To provide exceptional customer service to our policy holders and external customers, escrow title offices, insurance companies, and mortgage lenders on non-coverage related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Responsible for accurately placing coverage based on products designed to fit the individual clients risk exposure, using independent judgment
    * Process a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls to clients, lenders/mortgagees, insurance companies, and escrow offices
    * Cross sell additional policies, upgrades and endorsements
    * Knowledge of property insurance in all states
    * Retain customer accounts via re-write of existing policies
    * Knowledge of carrier management system along with other interface systems
    * Arrange and research payments leading to a policy reinstatement
    * Process all related activities arising out of an incoming call, fax or email
    * Organize and prioritize work process based on order of importance to meet department standards
    * Maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers

Required Skills

    * Excellent verbal & written communication skills
    * Ability to handle the volume of incoming calls
    * Fluent in English
    * Property & Casualty underwriting knowledge for homeowners, dwelling fire, earthquake, flood, condo, renters, windstorm, schedules, umbrellas and the Fair Plan
    * Knowledge of state specific solicitation and selling regulations set forth by the Department of Insurance
    * Ability to provide friendly customer service and to resolve customer issues
    * Good organizational skills and attention to detail
    * Willing to be a team player
    * Dependable, self-motivated and able to take direction

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, read, listen and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily.
Required Experience

    * High School diploma or GED plus at least 2 years of job experience in a service oriented or call center position
          o Or job experience in a personal lines insurance in an agency or insurance company environment
          o Or an equivalent combination along with a Property & Casualty Agent License
    * Ability to type 5000 keystrokes per hour required
