POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the fitness operations of the club which include the marketing and sales of fitness programs, oversight of fitness services and programs, the personal training staff and Floor specialists staff, and related fitness operations as they directly impact the overall member experience and operating excellence of the department. It is also essential that the coordinator provide a safe and effective exercise environment for club members through the use of supervision and education. Individual personal training is also required.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. To work with the athletic director to oversee all financial aspects of all fitness programs, including both the revenue and expense aspects related to all fitness program efforts. To insure that the financial performance of the athletic department meets budget.
2. To manage the personal trainers and floor specialist employee partners in a manner that reinforces the club’s values and philosophies and insures the operation of the department meets company standards and provides an environment of Member Delight. This includes managing all aspects of the selection, hiring and education process and providing the leadership for the team on a daily basis
3. To oversee fitness programming, in particular personal training, marketing practices, policies and systems that are necessary for achieving the department’s and club’s strategic and business plan goals.
4. To conduct weekly employee partner staff meetings/education sessions for direct report employee partners.
5. To oversee the financial success of the fitness programming through: correct pricing of services (done in conjunction with the athletic director), monitoring and management of employee partner payroll and lesson payments, the daily and period audits of sales, forecasting programming financial performance on a period basis and whatever other actions must occur for programming and the athletic department to meet its budget and forecast goals.
6. Assist the Sports Director in handling payroll functions for the fitness employee partners. This includes proper scheduling of employee partners according to budget, collecting and auditing employee partner commission sheets, and assisting the management of payroll and commission expense to plan, etc.
7. To create, coordinate, resource, implement, deliver, market and sell all fitness programs and services. In doing so, to insure proper systems are implemented so as to insure that the club’s fitness programs meet the needs of the membership and drive member participation in such a manner as to create Member Delight and enhance Member retention.
8. To utilize the available resources of ClubCorp in executing the responsibilities of Fitness Coordinator. This includes incorporating any standards that the company has established for fitness programming, personal training and program marketing.
9. To assist in the delivery of department services as required, including providing specific services as qualified to do so by training (examples are working the floor, performing personal training, facilitating program activities, etc.)
10. To meet regularly with the Sports Center Director and other supervisors to make sure there is complete cooperation between departments in the club and to insure that there is regular communication to other employee partners in the club regarding the department’s services and operation.
11. To adhere to all of the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc., all of which go to make up the essential functions of the job.
12. To hire, train and schedule the floor specialist staff to insure a high standard of member service.
13. To be responsible for the overall daily, weekly and monthly cleanliness and maintenance of the fitness equipment.
14. To present self as a positive role model of the club and of the fitness industry.



Job Requirements :

WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one year’s experience in a supervisory or similar department head role.
- Minimum of five years experience in the club and/or fitness industry.
- Current national fitness certification.
- B.S. or B.A. in a fitness related field.


 


EDUCATION
·College Degree in health, fitness or recreation related field.


CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
·Certification in CPR/AED.
·Certification from national organization such as ACSM, ACE, NASM.
·Within one year of employment ClubCorp star certified.
