Job Description


Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. is an aggressive, small, leading edge Research & Development company with a wide spectrum of technologies in commercial and military applications. We have expertise in high-power electro-magnetic radiation, magnetic and electric field detection, acoustic sensing, directed energy diagnostics and alternative energy technologies.


Responsibilities



  • Establish and update strategic vision for the company (including 5 year plan)

  • Establish and update tactical directions for the company’s initiatives (including inputs to annual plan)

  • Direct company’s principal marketing resources (marketing budget & Washington DC office)

  • Counsel and mentor the leaders of ~12 independent Venture teams, especially as relates market insight, program direction & marketing tactics

  • Market Research

  • Recommend, attract & negotiate the investment into and launch of spinoffs of SARA initiatives

  • Recommend and direct the licensing of SARA technologies


Qualifications



  • Good communication skills (oral & written)

  • Ability and willingness to make cold calls to potential customers

  • Demonstrated ability to secure business following such calls

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate market potential

  • Demonstrated ability to identify profitable high-technology products while the products are in early stage of initial development

  • Demonstrated ability to write a business plan

  • Demonstrated ability to propose & win development and demonstration contracts

  • Demonstrated ability to schedule & budget monetary & human resources

  • Degree(s) in engineering or science plus some years of experience in these fields plus 10 years experience in business development

  • Experience within research & development or start-up companies a plus

  • Experience with DoD-related programs a plus

  • Experience negotiating standard business agreements (for example non-disclosure, teaming, joint-venture, licensing)

  • Willingness to travel

  • Demonstrated ability to both direct technical staff and effectively communicate with customers
