Oakley's Uniformed Services Division provides spectacles, goggles, footwear and other items to active duty and reserve government employees providing protection services. The continued growth and opportunities in the uniformed services markets has created the opportunity for this new position.



The Military Division General Manager (GM) will have direct responsibility for the product development plans, sales and marketing for the worldwide military effort. The Military Division GM will have direct reports with responsibility for Eye Safety Systems, the www.usstandardissue.com website, military sales to the international markets, and the US military sales group. The Military Division GM will provide input and direction to the Eyewear Research and Development (R&D) and Engineering groups to guide the product development roadmap.



BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Military Division GM will have primary responsibility for driving profitable sales growth in the various uniformed services customer groups. The Military Division GM will specifically be accountable for goals in the following areas:

- Developing and supporting short term tactical plans and longer term strategic plans for the www.usstandardissue.com website. Increasing the web sales efficiencies and sales through search engine marketing, affiliate programs and viral marketing.

- Directing the transition of the Ray-Ban brand into the Oakley Military Division.

- Driving sales of Military Division products, identifying appropriate channels, penetrating new markets, and building sales organization as needed to support growth.

- Developing an accelerated sales growth strategy for law enforcement and fire fighting markets.

- Centralizing the management for sales in international military markets.

- Developing and executing comprehensive brand strategy for Military Division product line, identifying and pursuing new market opportunities and new product ideas.

- Providing forward-looking, customer based input to the R&D product development roadmap.

- Developing close working relationships with key channel partners and US military purchasing staff.

- Building deep expertise on military channel to understand channel and customer trends, opportunities for Oakley to gain competitive advantage in the channel, capitalize on growth opportunities, and deliver superior volume and profit results.

- Conducting market and customer analysis to dimensionalize opportunities, including new products and services. Communicate key trends and opportunities across Oakley to institutionalize the knowledge and improve Oakley's overall understanding of the channel.

- Leading the development, alignment, execution and analysis of the results of plans and programs designed to deliver volume and profit growth for the channel. Measure and communicate the results of programs, develop and synthesize key learnings and communicate them throughout Oakley. Lead programs to improve business results in the channel.

- Analyzing competitive price trends, analyzing sales, and maintaining pricing at market levels. Will oversee the development and implementation of pricing and adjustments. Work closely with sales and marketing staff and address competitive pricing concerns and pricing goals.

- Directing marketing efforts to expand Oakley's position in uniformed services.

- Managing short-term and long-term new product strategy and planning processes including brand fit and scope of development, identification of new product platforms, development and launch.

- Building team cohesion while installing professional sales management processes.

- Developing 'sales funnel' tracking for the worldwide RFP/RFQ opportunities.

Qualifications

 

7+ years of professional general management experience.

A broadly-focused entrepreneurial mindset, capable of driving brand strategy and energized by the opportunity to 'get one's hands dirty.'

A self-directed and internally motivated individual who possesses the confidence that is based on a track record of success and is capable of creating defined and measurable steps to achieve a given goal.

Experience in marketing to uniformed services customer groups.

Outstanding analytical skills.

Experience in leading change initiatives within a sales/marketing organization.

Supervision of professional sales teams.

Superior interpersonal and communication skills.

Unquestioned personal integrity and work ethic.

Proven cross-cultural effectiveness.

English language fluency.

Ability to travel (up to 50%).



PLUS FACTORS:

Experience with consumer products preferred.

Experience in international markets preferred.

Preferred prior service with the US Special Operations Forces.

Understanding of optical products is helpful.
