DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE & FOUNDATION RELATIONS

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County seeks a Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations to work with our Advancement department reporting to the Vice President of Annual Giving, and is a member of the senior advancement team. The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the strategic development of the museums corporate and foundation relations program in support of ongoing operations and the campaign for the new museum. The identification, positioning, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation donors, both national and international, in the range of $50,000 to $1 million and above are key responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include management of sponsorship, corporate membership and foundation programs, staffing of the corporate and foundation relations program, and overall marketing of the museum to donors and prospects. The Director supervises the Manager, Grants & Foundations and the Corporate Relations Coordinator.

This position has the following requirements:

    A bachelors degree is required; advanced degree preferred.

    Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education development or a non-profit or marketing-related career. International experience preferred, through work with corporate donors world-wide.

    A minimum of five years experience with the corporate community, with a demonstrated understanding of technology.

    A minimum of five years demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating and personally soliciting corporate prospects in the major gifts range. Campaign experience is desirable.

    Exposure to digital media.

    Proficient in a MAC or PC computer environment with working knowledge of basic office software and databases, such as MS Word, MS Excel, donor tracking databases.

    Able and willing to travel and work evenings and weekend hours.

    Demonstration of high level of creativity, initiatives taken, and results achieved.

    Proven success in managing staff and working with volunteers with excellent interpersonal skills.

    Demonstration of organizational and leadership skills.

    Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage many projects simultaneously on team and independent projects.

    Experience in and/or sensitivity to an academic/professional environment.

    Strong articulate speakercan connect with audience and express convincing case for support.

    Outstanding writing skills, with the ability to develop and write proposals and plans.

    Bilingual communication skills an asset, as well as demonstrated experience working with multi-cultural environments.

    Personal and professional sophistication and a positive presence.

    Energetic and knowledgeable individual capable of managing and growing a successful corporate and foundation relations program with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.

Salary is commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full time, regular, exempt position.
