Job Description:     Universal Music Group is currently seeking a Director of eCommerce for the Universal City, CA location.

Universal Music Group Distribution has been the industry market share leader for the past eleven years, and consists of three major divisions: Universal Music Distribution (UMD), Fontana, and Vivendi Entertainment (VE). UMD handles the distribution and sales for such labels as Universal Motown Republic Group, Island Def Jam Music Group, Interscope Geffen A&M Records, A&M/Octone Records, MCA Nashville, Universal Records South, Lost Highway, Mercury Nashville, Verve Music Group, Decca Label Group, Universal Music Latino, Universal Music Enterprises, Hip-O, UTV, Sanctuary Records, Fonovisa, Disa, Machete Music, ABKCO, Concord Music Group, Hollywood, Emusica, Lyric Street, RMM, Thump, Rounder, Walt Disney, Big Machine, Show Dog Records, VI Music, Sybersound, Hidden Beach, Palm Pictures, and Universal Music Christian Group among many others. Fontana is the company’s independent sales, marketing and distribution arm, and Vivendi Entertainment is its theatrical and home entertainment division.

Position Summary:

Reporting to VP, Marketing, the Director, eCommerce will focus on developing, executing, and maximizing all UMGD direct-to-consumer (D2C) sales initiatives. S/He will work closely with UMGD labels to provide strategic support in the launch of artist based D2C stores and offers as well the D2C marketing department to ensure the successful deployment of new offers. The Director, eCommerce will also have operational oversight of UMGD’s D2C platform to drive enhancements and new feature sets.

Job Responsibilities:

-Provide thought leadership and strategic vision across the organization, utilizing centered design methodologies to define and communicate the eCommerce vision and strategy.
-Partner with D2C Marketing Department to ensure successful execution of product launches.
-Oversee platform to ensure operational integrity and consistency.
-Establish web metrics to ensure best practices and measurability reporting processes, and drive aggressive performance improvements through testing, tracking and analysis data
-Partner with Universal Music Logistics to ensure successful fulfillment of digital and physical product fulfillment.
-Support UMGD labels on product definitions, best practices, and financial modeling.
Keep current with the latest e-commerce trends and technology to keep site competitive in the online marketplace.


Job Requirements:    

-Proven track record of managing an eCommerce platform.
-Well-rounded experience with e-commerce and web production, as well as traditional retail marketing and direct marketing experience.
-Solid understanding of web metrics and how data is used to drive optimization.
-A passion for digital strategy and user-centered design processes, techniques, and tools.
-Ability to translate business needs and analysis into product requirements and deliverables.
-Strategic thinker grounded in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
-Excellent strategic thinking and management communication skills.
-Ability to lead and evangelize strategy across multiple business units.
-Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing Required, MBA preferred
