Description
This position is a key innovation role within Oakley's Design and Engineering organization. The Product Development Manager has overall responsibility of industrializing new injection models and technology initiatives for eyewear including Oakley, Revo, Fox and Xmetal. This individual will focus on team management to deliver production ready engineering solutions within the product release timelines to meet margin expectations.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Manage project engineers across multiple brands, focusing primarily on plastic injection new model introductions.
Responsible for design reviews, technical drawings, tooling, documentation, bill of materials, trials, test analysis and solutions, fixturing, team budgets, project planning, PLM system updates (Matrix One).
Lead large cross-functional and cross-company teams to plan and execute model launches.
Work closely with other teams between Oakley Corporate, Product Management, Design, Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, suppliers and technology vendors.
Requires an innovative and experienced manager to bring products to market in a dynamic product development environment.
Various phases of projects/initiatives will need to be clearly documented and communicated at various levels of internal and external organizations.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS in engineering and 5+ years experience with Project/Team Management (certification a plus).
8+ years experience in plastics/development industry with in-depth knowledge of tooling, consumer product industrialization, optics and manufacturing processes.
5+ years experience with proven ability to manage a technical team that executes complex injection molded projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Outstanding problem solving skills.
A proven track record in technical vendor management skills.
Technical leadership and excellent troubleshooting skills.
Excellent judgment and ability to handle high pressure deadlines.
Proficiency in current CAD package (Pro E, Solidworks, Alias) PLM software, MS Project.
Ability to think "outside the box" and ardent desire to innovate.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Proven ability to undertake and successfully deliver multiple product initiatives through strong team leadership.
