Summary:Reporting to the Senior Director of General Services, performs professional purchasing work for procurement of equipment, supplies, and services of complex technical and specialized items which are typically made, altered, or customized to meet the University’s specific needs and specifications. Incumbent will independently negotiate contracts with vendors, and requires extensive knowledge of sources of supply, interpretations of specifications, and possible substitutions. Promotes the most effective use of funds in the acquisition of assigned commodities in accordance policies and procedures. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting specific turnaround times, goals, and objectives.

Must possess valid driver's license to travel to meet with customers, and attend off-site training or vendor locations as needed to complete assignments
Minimum 3 years relevant experience
Desired:
Understanding of JCAHO, DHS, and OSHPD requirements pertaining to procurement/contracts
Procurement experience in UC or other University Medical Center
