POSITION DEFINITION:  Manager of Data Center and Networks


 


The individual in this position reports to the Director of Information Technology with the responsibility for providing strategic leadership and vision in the development and implementation of the information technology infrastructure. 


 


The incumbent will provide the appropriate level of security for company information by recommending, implementing, and supporting hardware, software, and security policies. The incumbent will work closely with other IT management and decision makers at various business units to identify, recommend, develop, implement, manage and support cost-effective technology solutions for maximum productivity and service support.


 


ACCOUNTABILITY:


 


As a responsible administrator, the incumbent will lead the organization to its greatest potential by ensuring compliance with applicable standards, network security issues, laws, policies and procedures relative to information technology infrastructure. This individual is responsible for managing a 24x7 Data Center and the company’s Network infrastructure, including monitoring and reporting on the performance of all Data Center equipment (AS/400, Servers, Network, etc.) to ensure continued availability. 


 


 This individual will proactively identify requirements for infrastructure and operation expansion based on current and projected activity to exceed customer’s expectations. The individual  in this position is accountable for ‘building a culture of service’  among their IT team by giving them the necessary training to provide a level of service that is in line with the strategic goals of the organization.


 


Summary of Key Responsibilities


 


The incumbent supervises a diverse team with responsibilities for company-wide information technology infrastructure. The following are key position responsibilities:


 


Serves in the capacity as advisor to the IT Director on the creation of a strategic information technology infrastructure plan and guiding long range plan for business continuity planning


 


Identifies and advises management on emerging information infrastructure technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company


Instills world class customer service attitude in team personally demonstrating a passion for this on a regular basis and by providing timely coaching/counseling to team


 


Directs and manages Data Center and Network computing equipment plans, policies, programs and schedules for business and finance data processing, computer services, and network communications to accomplish corporate goals and objectives


Establishes key performance indicators (e.g. SLA’s), measuring and reporting results against those to internal customers


 


Provides vision, leadership, and rapid deployment oversight to ensure the company’s infrastructure technology keeps pace with business demands


Identifies and implements appropriate security policies and procedures for the Data Center and Network to include, Sox compliance, testing, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans


 


Manages enterprise infrastructure development and support to budget, schedule, scope, and quality guidelines


Ensure availability of infrastructure through training, documentation, maintenance, release management, change management, and other best practices


Manages vendor/product evaluation and selection process, including oversight of the purchasing of Information Technology products and services


Reviews and approves major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment

Required Experience


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS


 


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; an advanced degree is preferred


 


Ten (10+) years of information technology experience with demonstrated experience in creating and achieving results of an IT strategic plan


Strong management capabilities, preferably with experience in a matrix organization with diverse geographic entities; experience with significant project management and operational support in a complex environment. This include, successful implementation of infrastructure best practices


 


Proven experience in IT Management, planning, organization, and development, including managing a team responsible for 24/7 support of mission critical systems


 


Experienced with broad set of corporate IT initiatives; operations support, data storage and LAN/WAN in a Linux/UNIX/Windows environment; IBM AS 400, HP UX, etc.


Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracts, negotiating, and change management.


Strong working knowledge of switch/router hardware, network services, firewalls, and DMZ principles


 


Experience implementing server virtualization


Excellent track record of carrying projects through from conception through implementation, on time and on budget


Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.


 


Demonstrated success in recruiting, managing, and developing an outstanding and diverse  team of IT professionals


Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings


Experience/certifications relating to Six Sigma/ITIL and SOX preferred


Prior experience managing a network team highly desired


Knowledge of PBX and VoIP technology a plus
